Best Buy Announces its Music Cloud Service

Thanks to Best Buy, Android users now have yet another metaphor wielding service in which to upload their music libraries to. Introducing “Best Buy Music Cloud,” a cross-platform music service that allows Android, Apple (no premium service for you), and Blackberry users access to their digital music collection on-the-go. BBMC is being offered in a “web player only” lite version which will be free of charge along with an “all-you-can-eat” $3.99 a month subscription option.
Sony-Ericsson launches XPERIA Branded Ray and Active

Pictured to the left are the two newly announced Sony-Ericsson Android devices named the Ray and the Active respectively. The Ray being the newest “luxury” model of the XPERIA line, and the Active being a rugged dust-proof and water resistant handset. Both are running Gingerbread, which is good news, but have some different specs as they are targeted at different market segments. Check the specs and full press release out after the break, along with two videos of each handset. As you can imagine, the Active handset is built to be a little more rugged, targeted at outdoor enthusiasts, Sony is marketing the unit as one that can take the wear and tear of an “active” lifestyle.

[PSA] Lookout Identifies New Android Trojan, GGTracker – Mimics Android Market

Lookout, the #1 security app for Android, has identified a new Trojan, this time affecting Android users in the U.S. This new threat called “GGTracker” misleads users via in-app advertisements that prompt users to download seemingly legitimate applications from a fake (but convincing) Android Market. Once downloaded, the GGTracker Trojan will register users for premium SMS subscription services without the users permission. It accomplishes this by contacting another server which will then answer security questions and input security PIN numbers to authenticate subscriptions. These unauthorized subscriptions can then result in charges of up to $9.99.
Verizon Set to Offer Tiered Data on July 7

Verizon is ready to add their name to the growing list of carriers offering tiered data plans come next month. According to information passed to Droid-Life, Verizon will be offering up a trio of options to customers in 2GB, 5GB, and 10GB plans. The rates will be slightly higher than what AT&T charges their customers and will not hinge upon whether you have a 3G or 4G handset. Huawei Announces 7-inch Honeycomb Tablet ‘MediaPad’

Huawei has officially announced their MediaPad today, a 7-inch, dual-core Honeycomb tablet. Specifications include a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera on the rear, front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera, and HSPA+ (14.4Mbps) support. There’s also Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n), microSD card slot, and HDMI-output, and a 4,100mAh battery with more than six hours of battery life. The pricing of the tablet was not announced however the expected launch is sometime in the fall of this year. We expect to see this offered across multiple carriers around the world, even here in the U.S.
