Apple Sold 25 Million iPads in 14 Months

An interesting statistic given at the Worldwide Developers Conference yesterday shows just how popular the Apple iPad has become. In just 14 months, Apple has sold 25 million iPads. Ticonderoga Securities analyst Brian White said by the end of the March 2011 quarter, there were 19.48 million iPads sold. Noting that approximately 25 million iPads have been sold to date, this means the first two months of the June quarter saw 5.52 million iPads being sold.

Foxconn iPad 2 Assembly Plant Back in Operation

The Foxconn plant in Chengdu, China that suffered a deadly explosion last month that killed three workers and injured 15 more is back up and running today after weeks of being shut down while authorities conducted an investigation. Foxconn also wanted to make sure the possible cause of the explosion, a buildup of dust in the plant’s ventilation system, was addressed and that no other problems were present. Initially, sources said the accident did not affect the assembly line for iPad 2 and the production of the new popular Apple tablet would not be effected. That turned out not to be true.
