From the man who brought us The Orphanage and Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark comes another beautiful, creepy Spanish horror/thriller called Julia’s Eyes. An English subtitled trailer for the film was discovered by sites like STYD and Collider, as the trailer has been out before but without any subs (see it on YouTube). Written and directed by Guillem Morales, Julia’s Eyes is yet another supernatural ghost thriller about a woman and her husband who return to a town to find that her sister, who was blind due to a degenerative illness, killed herself. Obviously things get spooky from there and I won’t spoil anymore, so watch it below.

Julia’s Eyes, or Los ojos de Julia, was written and directed by up-and-coming Spanish filmmaker Guillem Morales, of the feature The Uncertain Guest and numerous short films previously. The script was co-written by Morales & Oriol Paulo (”El cor de la ciutat”). This is produced by Guillermo del Toro and Joaquín Padró and was shot late last year. As far as we know, this doesn’t have a US distributor yet but will be playing at a few upcoming film fests, including the Toronto Film Festival (although oddly not in the Midnight Madness category). We’ll be keeping our eye on this and checking it out up at TIFF, so stay tuned for more updates if you’re interested. You can also check out a very creepy official website (in Spanish) at: losojosdejulia.es.
