A plane crash puts Cristina, Meredith, Derek, Mark, Lexie and Arizona into a tragic, Lost-like scenario where not all of them survive

This year is officially the year of reality singing competitions. To summarize: The Voice’s second season competed against veteran this spring, the reboot of Simon Cowell’s The X Factor (premiering this fall) involves the buzz-worthy addition of Britney Spears and Demi Lovato as judges, and now ABC has joined the genre battle with newcomer Duets, a show that brings the celebrity singers from behind the judges table to the stage, where they will sing alongside the show’s hopefuls. Here’s how it will work: judges John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Nettles and Robin Thicke will search the country for their pick of the best talent, ultimately choosing two contestants to mentor. Once in the live performance stage, the four singers will take the stage and perform duets with their mentees, and the winner from the best duet will go on to win a recording contract with Hollywood Records. Though the TV world of singing competitions seems crowded, judge Kelly Clarkson (and first ) believes Duets has a unique angle

The first week of America’s Got Talent season 7 has passed, providing us with a bevy of performances, from a singing bird lady to a scorpion swallower to a rapping 80-year-old “Granny G.” Plus, we got to see new judge Howard Stern in action (and he was surprisingly a welcome addition to the table). With a talent competition as large as this one, going on its seventh season, you have to really stand out to not only make it past the first auditions (to Vegas, where the contestants will perform again to make it onto AGT’s live shows) – you have to somehow distinguish yourself from the crowd of already high talent. Here’s a look back at some of the standout performances from the first week of auditions. William Close and His Earth Harp This unassuming fellow makes musical instruments for a living and when he performed on the world’s largest stringed instrument that turned the entire theater into an instrument, it was a truly unique performance.

Only one episode remains of Revenge season 1, but that doesn’t mean there are no new questions from the latest episode, “Grief.” Here are five of the most burning Revenge questions of the week. Is Nolan cut out for a life of crime? Short answer — no. Now that he’s been kidnapped by an evil guy with white hair, Nolan is basically screwed. He does have Emily for backup, but Nolan is seriously the weak link in the crime side of Revenge.

As fall shows end and you’re waiting for summer ones to begin, it’s the perfect time to dig into some TV on DVD titles. Two recent releases worth checking out: the fifth and final season of NBC’s Chuck and the fourth season of Canadian import Flashpoint. What’s inside the boxes? Chuck: The Fifth and Final Season (DVD; Warner Home Video) NBC’s spy comedy Chuck was never a ratings winner, but the people that did watch it loved it like I love dessert (which is a lot). Here’s a show that was more connected to its fans than any other I can think of – both in terms of its fate, as they saved it from cancellation more than once, and because its cast and crew were as committed to the fans as the fans were devoted to the show.
