Watch: ‘Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer’ Doc Trailer

It’s a hell of a year for documentaries. Another one to add to your list of docs to see by the end of the year is Alex Gibney’s Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer , an investigative inside look at the downfall of former New York governor Eliot Spitzer, who resigned after a prostitution scandal in ‘08. Spitzer appears in Charles Ferguson’s Inside Job and I’ve heard some refer to Client 9 as an unofficial sequel to Inside Job , in that it looks at this story of what happened to him when he started to fight against the greedy CEOs who control Wall St. Magnolia debuted the official trailer on Apple and it looks damn good

This is the story of the terrorist known as Carlos the Jackal. If you haven’t heard about Carlos before, it’s a 5-hour epic biopic about Ilich Ramirez Sanchez , one of the most wanted terrorists on the planet. Between 1974 and 1994, he lived several lives under various pseudonyms, weaving his way through the complexities of international politics of that period

Where the hell did this come from? (That pun will make sense after you watch this.) Apple has debuted an official trailer for Philip Ridley’s Heartless , starring Jim Sturgess and Clémence Poésy . I actually do know about this film, as we featured a trailer for it earlier this year, but haven’t heard much about it since, mainly because IFC quietly picked it up and is opening it very limited this fall
Must Watch: Tom Hooper’s The King’s Speech Official Trailer

Get ready for your first look at this year’s Best Picture frontrunner. The Weinstein Company has debuted the official trailer for Tom Hooper’s The King’s Speech starring Colin Firth as King George VI as well as Geoffrey Rush, Helena Bonham Carter, Guy Pearce and Timothy Spall as Churchill. I had the chance to see this a week ago and totally loved it, one of my favorite films of the year and I truly believe that Firth will get the Oscar and that it has a very strong chance of winning Best Picture. This is a fantastic trailer to introduce you to the film and also give you a look at some of Danny Cohen’s gorgeous cinematography
Kimberly Peirce Directing an Adaptation of ‘Wicked Lovely’

Yet another candidate to replace The Twilight Saga upon its impending conclusion has manifested itself as Deadline reports director Kimberly Peirce ( Boys Don’t Cry , Stop-Loss ) has signed on to helm an adaptation of Meliisa Marr’s dark fantasy novel Wicked Lovely , the first in a whole series. The story follows Aislinn, a girl who has always seen faeries but followed her grandmother’s rules to ignore them at all costs. But suddenly the faeries are stalking her and she’s forced to confront them and their world that she’s feared all her life. Scary and dark, this isn’t the kind of “fairy tale” that audiences have seen many times before.

This is one of those great finds that I feel could eventually be a cult hit, but we really don’t know too much about it yet. Quiet Earth featured this teaser trailer for a magical fantasy film called Mrs. Peppercorn’s Magical Reading Room from English director Mike Le Han
Second Epic Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Official Trailer

“Only I can live forever…” Warner Bros has debuted the second and final epic theatrical trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows : Part I which you can see in high res below. This is the second trailer following the first debut in June and this one makes that first trailer look tame. With all the new footage, I think they’ve made the first part of this Harry Potter finale look as incredible and exciting as Tron Legacy in my mind, and that’s a hell of an achievement, but damn it looks so frickin’ good. I’ve been watching these since it started and I cannot wait for the conclusion, it’s going to be unforgettable.
Don’t Watch: Starz Animation’s New ‘Gnomeo & Juliet’ Trailer
September 21, 2010 by movie trailers · Leave a Comment
I know this is supposed to be for kids and not me (so they say), but I’d take DreamWorks’ movies any day over this crap. Touchstone, which is essentially Disney, has debuted a trailer for an animated movie called Gnomeo & Juliet coming out next February. Made by Starz Animation ( Space Chimps, 9 ), the concept is essentially like Night at the Museum but with garden gnomes, or maybe I should say this is more of a Toy Story ripoff, as that’s what I thought after watching this trailer. None of the jokes really connected, I never laughed, and it’s a brutalized take on the classic Shakespeare play. Or at least that’s what I think
Watch: More Epic Teaser-Trailers for Space Battleship Yamato

Love Lives! Uh, is that Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler singing the Space Battleship Yamato theme? Why yes it is ! Our friends at Vlicious recently found this new video featuring a combo teaser (35 seconds long) and new trailer (100 seconds long) for the hugely epic Japanese live-action adaptation of the anime Space Battleship Yamato . We already featured another early trailer for this back in June , but this one has tons of insane new footage in it. I don’t know if there’s any real narrative to the footage, as if they just threw every visual effects shot that is finished into a blender and this is what we get. But I still want to see it, I totally love space epics! Watch the new Japanese teaser/trailer combo for Takashi Yamazaki’s Space Battleship Yamato : As of this moment, Space Battleship Yamato (also known as Star Blazers when it was brought to the US in the 80s), will hit theaters in Japan in December of 2010 , in just a few months
